Calling all beginners! This pattern has been put together with you in mind. It may look complicated, but uses simple techniques to get great results.
If you are looking for something to make for craft fairs or as gifts, the Zippy Circle Pouch is for you! This pouch is called zippy for two reasons. The first should be obvious (it has a zip!), but the second is because this pattern is designed for you to get a great finish, quickly. The pieces are all graded for a perfect fit, and I show you my favourite techniques for sewing with circles. Oh, and it has a grown on self-binding, to get a really neat finish inside! What’s not to love!
The pattern uses notches to match the straight sides to the circular base and top
All of the pattern pieces are subtly different sizes, to ensure a perfect fit
Pieces are basted with glue stick to make them easy to sew
I show you a great method for putting in a zip, which you can use in any pattern
The binding is “grown on”, so no separate pieces to fiddle with
This pouch uses a stiffener inside the top and base to create a really nice circle shape
This design uses one fat eighth for the outer, and another for the lining
Everything is stitched by machine, but the video also shows you how to hand-stitch the binding
You can sew along with the full tutorial video on YouTube:
Finished size (approx.):
4” diameter x 3” high
The PDF comes as two separate files. The first contains a simple, six-step tutorial with twenty photos, enhanced with graphics to make it clearer to understand. The second file contains the pattern pieces, ready for you to cut out and use. All sizes are in inches.
INCLUDED:
A list of all the materials and quantities you need to complete both projects
Cutting layouts for all fabrics
Instructions on how to cut and prepare the fabrics
Step-by-step instructions including photos of each step
Photo tutorial and pattern pieces ready for printing
THIS IS A DOWNLOADABLE PDF PATTERN SENT TO YOUR EMAIL, NOT A PHYSICAL PRODUCT
