Hanging Storage Pockets - £6+VAT

Hanging Storage is a really useful way to organise your workspace! These Hanging Storage Pockets have two versions.

Version A has four rows of pockets, ranging from six 2” high pockets to three 4” high pockets. The main pattern piece is fully marked up with everything you need to get sewing with this version.

Version B is actually four versions or more! You get four additional marking guides, one for each style of pocket, and you use those guides to mark up the front so you can stitch your preferred style of pockets. This pattern is supported by a full tutorial video. The video shows you how to stitch either version.

• Features of the Hanging Sorage Pockets

  • Version A has a fully marked up pattern, ready for you to get sewing straight away!

  • I give instructions for making your own binding, but you can also use ready-made bias binding if you prefer

  • All of the lines on the front and on the pocket pieces are numbered, so it is easy for you to match them for stitching

  • I show you how to use washi tape or painter’s tape, so you can easily mark the stitching lines on your clear vinyl

  • The washi tape also means that you don’t need a walking foot to stitch the vinyl! You can use your ordinary machine foot

  • There are lots of markings on this pattern to make it an easy sew, and I show you exactly when and where to transfer each set of marks

  • Version B has four different marking guides, which you can use with the Version A front to create your own version.

  • This pattern is designed to be sewn on a domestic sewing machine; I use a Janome DKS 100.

  You will need (width x height):

  Quilting weight cotton:

  • Fabric A - 1 fat quarter

  • Fabric B - 1 fat quarter*

  Clear Vinyl: 21” x 12”

  Fusible interfacing: 22” x 16” medium weight fusible interfacing

  Batting: 16” x 10½”

  Sundries: washi or painter’s tape, removable fabric marker, permanent marker, ¾” binding maker

  Optional extras:  ¼” machine foot, walking foot, quilt clips, rotary cutter and gridded ruler, ¼” double sided tape, spray glue, awl

  *You can buy ready-made single-fold bias binding in 18mm/¾” for the pockets and 30mm/1¼” (or extra wide) for the outer

• Suggested fabrics

  Fabrics A and B: Quilting weight cotton

  Clear Vinyl: You need to make sure your vinyl is not too thin. You can buy crafting weight vinyl (for example, from ByAnnie) but you can also use the slightly thicker weight of table covering. In my experience, the glitter vinyl is a good weight.

  Fusible Interfacing: Any woven or non-woven medium weight fusible interfacing

  Batting: I used a bamboo quilt batting, but you could also use an acrylic curtain interlining, or a foam stabiliser.

  Binding: The binding for this pattern is cut from quilting cotton. If you don’t want to make your own binding, you can buy ready-made single-fold bias binding in 18mm/¾” for the pockets and 30mm/1¼” (or extra wide) for the outer

  The PDF comes as two separate files. The first contains a simple, six-step tutorial with fourteen photos, enhanced with graphics to make it clearer to understand. The second file contains the pattern pieces, ready for you to cut out and use, plus a cutting chart to help you plan your project. All sizes are in inches.
