Wet’n’Dry Washbag (original) - £5+VAT

When you pack your washbag to go

away, everything is clean and dry,

but things don’t stay that way!

This

Wet’n’Dry Washbag has two central

compartments so you can separate

your toothbrush and washcloth. It

also has two outer pockets for your

medications or contact lenses, to

keep them organised.

There is a newer version of this pattern, which includes a larger size, full pattern pieces, and uses fusible fleece, which you can buy here. This version is great for if you want to use quilt batting. All shaped pattern pieces are included, and you are given sizes for the rectangles to cut out yourself, using your favourite quilt rulers. There is a video tutorial which shows how to stitch the lining of this version of the Wet’n’Dry Washbag. Watch it here. This pattern includes references to my Wrist Straps Four Ways Masterclass. Download it here.

This is a downloadable PDF pattern sent to your email, not a physical product.

PDF Pattern - £5.00 plus local taxes or VAT (press button to see price in your local currency)

  • Finished size approx. 3 ½” wide x 4” high x 9” long

    • Two inside compartments which fit decanted toiletries and a full length electric toothbrush

    • Two exterior zipped pockets, which fit contact lenses or medications

    • The lining is constructed before the lower half of the outer is added

    • No binding, as the finished bag is pulled through one lining section

    • You can add a wrist strap using my free tutorial

    • This version uses quilt batting inside, so is great to use with fabrics that are hard to fuse to, such as faux leather or waterproof canvas

    • All shaped pattern pieces are included, and you are given sizes for the rectangles to cut out yourself, using your favourite quilt rulers.

  • You will need: (width x length)

Quilting weight cotton: ½ yard or metre by width of fabric (if using one fabric for outer and front pockets) or Upper Outer, 11 ½” x 6”, Lower Outer, 15 ½” x 10”, and Pocket Bag, 9 ½” x 11”

Waterproof lining: 30” x 12” for interior compartments only, or 30” x 18” if doing all pockets in waterproof lining

    #3 zips (dress zips): 2 x 9 ½”

    #5 zips (bag zips): 2 x 11 ½”

    Batting: 15 ½” x 16”

    Medium-weight fusible interfacing: 15 ½” x 16”

    Zipper foot

½” d-ring and lobster clasp (optional, if making a wrist strap)

  • Fabric A and Fabric B: Cotton quilting weight fabrics, used with a medium weight fusible interfacing; heavyweight waterproof canvas; cotton canvas; denim; cork; leather or faux leather

Lining: Cotton quilting weight fabrics, treated with a waterproofing solution; lighter weight waterproof canvas; ripstop nylon

Fusible interfacing: Any medium weight fusible interfacing, woven or non-woven

Batting: Any quilt-weight batting or curtain interlining

Zipper: This pattern is designed for a #5 zipper for the top zips, which has a tape width of 1 1/4”. If you use a #3 zip, you will need to adjust the pattern pieces by 1/4” to compensate. The side pockets use a #3 zip, so again, if you want to change to a #5, you will need to adjust the pattern.

  • The PDF comes as two separate files. The first contains a simple, six-step tutorial with twenty photos, enhanced with graphics to make it clearer to understand. The second file contains pattern pieces for the shaped pieces, ready for you to cut out and use. The rectangles are listed by size, ready for you to cut out using your favourite quilt rulers. All sizes are in inches.

    INCLUDED:

    • A list of all the materials and quantities you need to complete both projects

    • Instructions on how to cut and prepare the fabrics

    • Step-by-step instructions including photos of each step

    • Photo tutorial and pattern pieces ready for printing
